2026 THEME
Hoʻokahi Moana, Hoʻokahi ‘Ohana – One Ocean, One ʻOhana.
Kamehameha Schools Kapālama’s Ho‘olaule‘a carries the theme Hoʻokahi Moana, Hoʻokahi ‘Ohana – One Ocean, One ʻOhana. As 21st century kānaka ‘ōiwi, we are forever indebted by the legacy of our beloved Ke Ali‘i Pauahi. Across Ko Hawaiʻi Pae ʻĀina to distant lands, we continue to learn and grow as we strive to become a stronger lāhui.
Our moʻokūʻauhau speaks of the moana as a bridge for our ancestors – a pathway that linked ‘ohana, provided food, and carried our ali‘i to share and seek knowledge. Today, the ocean continues to unite us as kānaka maoli by perpetuating our culture and sustaining our communities.
Ho‘olaule‘a honors our kūpuna and reaffirms the bonds that unite us. It is the strength of our kānaka ‘ōiwi that allows us to steer the legacy of Ke Ali‘i Pauahi’s enduring love. We ho‘ōla lāhui in gratitude for the past as we voyage towards a prosperous, vibrant future.
